April 18, 2024 - Hampton's Emergency Management Office is gearing up for hurricane season by hosting a Community Preparedness Day event. In preparation for the upcoming season, the office is offering valuable information and resources to the community.

The event will cover various important topics such as building an emergency kit, creating an emergency plan, staying informed during disasters, food and water safety, first aid, safeguarding critical documents, emergency preparedness tips for individuals with special needs, pet care in disasters, power outage safety, and natural gas safety.

According to Hampton's Emergency Management Office, "Are you ready for hurricane season? Learn preparedness tips and gather supplies at Community Preparedness Day." This event is a great opportunity for residents to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and tools to stay safe during emergencies.

The Community Preparedness Day will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Hampton Community Center located at 1638 Briarfield Road. As an incentive, the first 250 families attending the event will receive supplies to help them build their own emergency kit.

As the event aims to educate and empower the community in preparation for hurricane season, it is a valuable opportunity for residents to take proactive steps towards ensuring their safety and well-being during emergencies.
